Chi RaveAbout
Chi Rave gathers upcoming dance-music events across Chicago into one place: the lineup, the genres, the venue and its size, and either a map pin or the publicly posted way to get a secret address. Every genre is listed, with a focus on hard techno, schranz, bochka, hard groove and industrial techno.
Where the data comes from
- Public Instagram posts by promoters, venues and artists, read through the official Instagram API. Events people submit. Every event links to the original posts we found it in.
- Discogs, for what an artist has released and the styles of those records, which helps the site work out an artist's genres. Where that data is used, the artist's name links to their Discogs page.
- An AI model reads flyers and suggests each artist's genres from a fixed list. A person reviews every event before it's listed, and checks the artists' genres by sampling.
